As a junior on the basketball team, Andrew Baxter knew he was not going to play much at all so he resolved that he wanted to be the best possible teammate on the basketball bench. He encouraged the whole bench to overwhelmingly support the players and be cheerleaders for them. He encouraged all the bench to "go crazy" for the players on the court. It made more info a big difference in the basketball team spirit and most likely contributed to the fact that the team made it to the playoffs for the first time in a long time.

Brennan Baxter, Andrew Baxter’s older brother, was also a successful basketball player. Steve enjoyed Brennan’s success just as well and has had many happy times watching both of his sons’ successes both on and off the Pearce High School basketball court.

But primarily he enjoys the Christian fellowship of being part of “BUCS” – Brothers Under Christ - a unique organization of Christians at Texas Tech who choose to expand their faith as they progress through university.
